Bathymetric and Topographic Surveys
It is not news to those engaged in the maritime and fluvial industry that the world fleet has increased dramatically in number and size. According to statistics compiled by consultants in relation with the evolution of the world merchant fleet in recent years, in the beginning of 2006 ships over 300 gross tons totalled 41,110 with a dead weight tonnage of 944.5 million and 10.4 million TEUs.
If we compare these figures with those of January 2005, the tonnage increased 6.4% and capacity of TEUs 10.7%. This has been the highest rate of increase in recent years.
In order to be able to compete, port terminals - the current and future ones - will have to modify their facilities in several aspects. One of these is to have the depth alongside at the terminals increased to suit larger vessels which will improve freight costs.
SAFE TRIP S.A. performs bathymetric surveys and other tasks related to meet these needs. Our company has qualified personnel, modern survey equipment and software. Bathymetric and topographic surveys results comply with the standards of the International Hydrographic Organisation assuring a high quality final product. Tasks performed by SAFE TRIP S.A. include data collection, levelling, tachymetry, location of altimetry points and on field data digitising.
