Port Nautical Operations
Nowadays ships move large amounts of cargo with less energy consumption and with low environmental effects when compared with other means of transportation.
Ports are vital for the development of the transport chains and the commercial activities related to them. The efficiency in the operation of a port is a key factor in the final result of the economic equation of the transport chain. The hinterland nearby is also affected by the efficiency of the port.
The Federal Law of Ports 24,093, promulgated on June 26, 1992, established the rules for a new regime by which the National State gave the private sector the commercial operation of ports, while retaining law enforcement, police power and legal jurisdiction.
The terminal operators are now free to recruit workers and to establish terms of employment. This new law has permitted port facilities and equipment be modernised.
Due to the increasing length and draft of vessels calling at our port terminals, mainly those entering the Parana River and Port of Buenos Aires (Puerto Nuevo and Dock Sud), the manoeuvres to access the ports should be tested periodically. This becomes more relevant when terminals are located in areas of restricted waters.
SAFE TRIP S.A. offers port terminal operators the possibility of performing real time ship simulation exercises to access a certain terminal; and also advise accordingly on all nautical variants that influence the design of a port, such as roadstead location, anchoring areas, etc.
